Why?

Because deep down somewhere in that sweet little head of yours I know you’ve been thinking to yourself:

“Self….I think it’s time to get more gainz out of our workouts from some added support”

Right?

You want to know it, and I’m going to give it to you.

First take a quick look at this short 3 minute video explaining some quick facts about the top 7 most purchased weightlifting belts on the market

#1 in the video will be the biggest surprise of them all

I told you #1 was going to be huge shocker. Who would have thought right !?!?

All jokes aside though the reviews are there to back it up but you didn’t come here to do all the research yourself right.

You came here because you wanted somebody else to do all the research and to show you what the best weight lifting belt out there is.

Now that you’ve had a brief introduction to the top selections on the market and had a chance to see a little more information on them. Now it’s time to show you the in-depth details on each.

Individual breakdowns for the best weight lifting belt to buy

Let’s start with #1

“Wait a minute Mr. Alan…. isn’t #1 your companies product… seems suspicious to me?!?!”

Now just to point out the elephant in the room. Yes this is our weight lifting belt that we manufacture.

However, I didn’t just blindly put our product to the #1 spot just because we’re the creators of it.

If you actually take a look at our other fitness product reviews on this blog you’ll notice that our products aren’t listing #1 all the time and a lot of times they’re not even in the product review at all!

Our leather weightlifting belt is listed #1 in this specific article you’re reading now because of the quality and I definitely plan on showing all of the positives and negatives to ALL the belts including ours so that you can make your own educated assessments and judgements.

So even though our product makes the list as one of the best weight lifting belts to buy I still offer my complete unbiased opinions about all the products mentioned… Even ours ;)

let’s begin.

1.) THE DARK IRON FITNESS GENUINE LEATHER 4 INCH PRO WIEGHT LIFTING BELT

Our top choice for the best weight lifting belt The great thing about the Dark Iron Fitness weight lifting belt is that it’s made of genuine leather so it provides great support but it’s also still very light weight at just 1.5 lbs.

Although it’s made of real leather it’s not too thick so it’s still very soft, flexible and comfortable to wear.

The metal buckle on the belt is very sturdy as well and is just one more addition to this belt to add to the overall impressive sturdy quality of this belt.

Most people love the overall style and look of the belt and even say they receive compliments about it while they are in the gym.

Here’s some more details about the belt –

POSITIVES ABOUT THIS WEIGHT BELT:

  • IT DOESN’T WEAR OUT:

Everything from the real leather it’s made out of to the double stitching and even the real metal buckle are all built from high quality materials so you don’t ever have to worry about it stretching, ripping, tearing, or falling apart on you

  • YOU RECEVE FULL BACK SUPPORT:

Most people don’t know this but the way that a weightlifting belt works is that you push your stomach and abs against the front of the belt so that it creates more pressure and support for your back.

So the fact the the width of this belt is 4 inches for the entire length of this belt means your stomach has more to push against which will in turn give your back more support

  • IT CAN ROLL UP AND BE STORED TIGHTLY IN GYM BAGS:

Another great addition to this weight belt is that since it isn’t as thick or stiff as other leather weight belts it can actually be rolled up which makes it very easy to store in almost any gym bag without taking up space.

  • YOU’RE COMPLETELY TAKEN CARE OF BY THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM THE DARK IRON FITNESS TEAM:

Now this is a little bit of a biased opinion :P

But in all honesty we regularly receive emails from our customers telling us how great our customer service is. There are even some reviews on Amazon from our customers saying it as well.

What can we say we love our customers and want to make sure you’re completely 100% happy with your weight belt.

  • YOUR PRODUCT IS BACKED BY A LIFETIME REPLACEMENT WARRANTY IF IT EVER BREAKS:

This is another great perk to the Dark Iron Fitness weight belt. You can register your weight belt for free within 1 week of receiving the belt for a free lifetime replacement warranty.

So if quality is something you’re worried about then this is a great feature. You only buy it once and never have to worry about buying another one ever again.

NEGATIVES ABOUT THIS WEIGHT BELT:

  • NONE:

Only joking :P

Although we believe our weight lifting belt is the best option on the market to buy there are still some draw backs to it. Nothings perfect, and like I said, I want to give you the most honest and unbiased review you can get. So here’s the real downsides to the weight belt –

  • IT HAS A METAL BUCKLE:

A big perk to non leather belts that use velcro to tighten the belt is that you can adjust the belt to any desired size. However, belts that use a metal buckle means you’re limited to adjustment holes every inch.

So if you’re waist size is in-between the adjustment sizes you’re either going to have to suck it in a bit and wear it tighter or wear it a little looser.

  • IT’S HIGHER PRICED THAN MOST BIG NAMED BRANDS:

If you’re looking to find out what is the best weight lifting belt to buy then you have to expect a little higher price tag for a higher quality of belt

Now, this belt is not the most expensive belt out there. It’s actually mid range for price, but if you don’t want to spend money for quality and you want to find the cheapest belt for your money, then this belt may be out of your budget.

The higher price tag does come because of the higher quality this belt offers but if you’re not willing to spend about 1.5x – 2x the amount of what a cheeper made belt costs then you may want to skip this belt as an option.

2.) THE ADER LEATHER 4 INCH POWERLIFTING BELT

Ader weight lifting beltThis actually isn’t your standard everyday weight lifting belt. This belt is actually classified as a powerlifting belt.

But it made the list because of it’s superb quality and durability.

With this powerlifting belt you’re NEVER going to have to worry about it wearing out….EVER.

Everything about this belt screams heavy duty.

Definitely more for people who are really serious about their workouts and pushing things to the max.

check-price

POSITIVES:

  • MADE OF HALF INCH THICK REAL LEATHER:

Just like the Dark Iron Fitness weight belt above, This belt is one of the very few leather belts on the market that is made of ACTUAL real leather.

But what stands out about this belt from the Dark Iron Fitness belt is that this belt is a half inch thick!

This belt Is NEVER going to wear out on you.

  • ENSURES YOUR BACK CAN HANDLE THE MOST STRESS YOU THROW AT IT:

The fact that this belt is so thick means that you’re going to be able to lift more weight than you would with thinner belts simply because this belt will keep your back supported more. Thicker support = more support.

  • YOU’LL FEEL LIKE A BEAST WHEN YOU WEAR THIS THING:

This is more of an ego thing :P

But as soon as you put on this belt you can’t help but to feel like a bad ass. It almost makes you want to lift extremely heavy things just because you have it on.

Plus it makes you look like a bad ass walking around with it on.

Like I said, it’s not just a weight lifting belt, it’s a “powerlifting belt”. You can check out the Wikipedia definition of powerlifting here if for whatever reason you’re curious and want to know the difference.

NEGATIVES:

  •  IT’S ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE BELTS ON THE MARKET:

Again, if you’re looking to find out what is the best weight lifting belt then you have to expect a little higher price tag for a higher quality of belt

With the highest quality comes the highest price and this belt follows that rule so if you’re worried about dropping some serious dough for a weight belt then this isn’t going to be your choice.

Good thing is that if you’re not a serious lifter who’s lifting 350+ pounds then you won’t need this belt anyways. After all it is a powerlifting belt and it’s built for extremely heavy lifting.

  • IT’S EXTREMELY STIFF AND WILL TAKE A WHILE TO BREAK IN:

Since it’s made of such thick leather it will tend to be very stiff and will take a decent amount of time to break in.

It fits and buckles fine, but if you’re hoping for it to be loose and floppy then better look elsewhere.

  • IT TIGHTENS WITH A METAL BUCKLE:

Just like the Dark Iron Fitness weight belt, since it uses a metal buckle it means you’re limited to adjustment holes every inch.

So if you’re waist size is in-between the adjustment sizes you’re either going to have to suck it in a bit and wear it tighter or wear it a little looser.

  • IT’S VERY HEAVY AND BULKY:

Depending on who you are this may either be a positive or a negative, but for most people this is a negative.

Since it’s made of such thick leather it’s going to have the extra weight to it and since it’s so tough and not flexible that means it doesn’t really have the capability to roll up and store in your gym bad.

That means for the most part you’re going to have to carry it around or just wear it for your whole workout.

THE IRON BULL STRENGTH NEOPRENE WEIGHT LIFTING BELT

Iron bull weight beltThe guy’s at Iron Bull Strength have great products, and if you’re totally against owning a leather weight lifting belt then this is your next best choice.

Built from neoprene this belt actually offers solid back support from it’s durable material and reinforced construction.

This light weight belt is a great option that offers a lot of flexibility and comfort.

It has a reinforced core for added support but is still very breathable so it’s great for wearing it for your entire workout session without having to take it off.

Let’s check out some more pros and cons to this belt –

check-price

POSITIVES:

  • FOR A NEOPRENE BELT IT’S WELL MADE:

Although you can’t beat a leather belt on the durability of the material. This belt is actually constructed very well for being made our of neoprene.

The craftsmanship is top notch and very well paid attention to.

YOU CAN MAKE MICRO TIGHTENING ADJUSTMENTS:

Since this weight belt is made of neoprene, that means it also has a velcro tightening closure.

The best thing about belts that tighten from velcro is the fact that you can adjust them to the micro level compared to leather belts where there are only adjustments holes every inch.

  • IT’S VERY COMFORTABLE AND SOFT:

Another perk to neoprene weight belts is that they’re soft. So when you’re working out you never have to worry about the belt digging into your side or hurting you because the material on this belt is so soft.

It may be soft but that doesn’t mean that it still won’t provide great support for your back.

  • IT’S A GREAT CHOICE FOR A BEGINNER:

If you’re just starting to work out and you’re looking for a first belt then this is a great choice.

Anyone who’s not lifting extremely heavy won’t need a leather belt which is why it’s a great choice for a beginner who’s just starting out .

If yore just starting out and you aren’t lifting heavy loads but still needs some support then this is a great option.

NEGATIVES:

  • WHEN YOU LIFT HEAVY THE VELCRO CAN COME UNDONE:

This is one major flaw to not just this belt but any belt that has velcro. The fact that if you put to much pressure on the weight belt then the velcro can actually come undone.

Just something to think about. If you think you’re going to be lifting really heavy then it may be in your best interest to go with a leather weight belt with a buckle.

  • THE MATERIAL WILL WEAR OUT FASTER THAN A LEATHER BELT:

Although this belt is made very well, it’s still not as durable as a leather belt which means that over time it will wear out more than what a leather belt would.

The biggest thing to worry about wearing out is the velcro closure because if the velcro is worn out then it won’t stay closed and there’s no more use out of the belt.

It still is a very durable belt and will last for a long time but the fact that it will wear out over time is something to think about.

  • IT DOESN”T PROVIDE EVEN SUPPORT AROUND YOUR ENTIRE MID SECTION:

Again, this isn’t a problem with ONLY this belt it’s a problem with any belt that offers a tapered design to the belt.

As I mentioned above with the Dark Iron Fitness weight belt is that the way a weightlifting belt works is that you push your stomach and abs against the front of the belt so that it creates more pressure and support for your back.

So the fact the the width of this belt isn’t the same for the entire length of this belt means your stomach doesn’t have as much surface area to push against which will in turn give your back  a little less support

  • IT DOESN’T HAVE MANY REVIEWS:

This may be a big no no for a lot of people.

I know personally as a buyer when ever I purchase things I want them to have a decent amount of reviews so that I know other people also like the product.

The fact that this belt doesn’t have many reviews is a bit concerning but I can attest that the people at Iron Bull Strength do have quality products they just don’t work very hard at trying to gain reviews from their customers.

However, if the number of reviews is a determining factor in your purchasing decision then this belt is probably out of the question.

OLYMPIADA’S LOW PROFILE NEOPRENE WEIGHT LIFTING BELT

olympiada weight beltOlymiada offers something that appeals to most customers.

A decent quality weight belt at an extremely low price.

The Olympiada is a great option IF you don’t want a leather weight belt AND you also don’t want to spend that much money.

With this weight belt you’ll receive most of the benefits of all the other neoprene weight belts on the market but also for much cheaper than most on the market.

A ver versatile option for those who are looking to gain a little extra leverage out of your workouts without breaking then bank.

Let’s check out the details

check-pricePOSITIVES:

  • ONE OF THE CHEAPEST NEOPRENE WEIGHT BELTS ON THE MARKET:

Probably the biggest perk to this weight belt is that it’s one of the cheapest out there. If you’re seriously in need of saving a few dollars but absolutely need a weight lifting belt then this is probably the best option for you.

So if you’re wanting to know what is the best weight lifting belt and the cheapest, then this is the belt for you.

Prices do fluctuate a little bit so it’s best to check the current price but it will more than likely be the cheapest option you come across.

  • EVEN SUPPORT FOR YOUR ENTIRE MID SECTION:

As I’ve mentioned a few times in this review already, even mid section support is one of the biggest focuses to finding the best weight lifting belt to buy.

The fact that this is an even 4 inches wide for the entire length of this belt means that you’ll get more support from this belt compared to some that have a tapered design.

  • EXTRMELY LIGHT WEIGHT:

Not only is this belt one of the cheapest on the market, but it’s also one of the lightest weighing belt on the market as well.

Whether you’re wearing the belt or just carrying it around you’ll barely even know it’s there.

  • YOU CAN MAKE MICRO TIGHTENING ADJUSTMENTS:

Just like the Iron Bull Strength weight belt above, since this weight belt is made of neoprene, that means it also has a velcro tightening closure.

The best thing about belts that tighten from velcro is the fact that you can adjust them to the micro level compared to leather belts where there are only adjustments holes every inch.

NEGATIVES:

  • THE QUALITY IS ONLY SUB PAR:

The fact that this is one of the cheapest weightlifting belts means that it’s cheap for a reason. With a cheap price also comes lower quality.

Now I don’t want to throw this belt under the bus. It’s a decent belt. however the quality is not as high as the other 3 belts above.

  • WHEN YOU LIFT HEAVY THE VELCRO CAN COME UNDONE:

Just like the Neoprene weight belt above, if you put to much pressure on the weight belt then the velcro closure can actually come undone.

Just something to think about. If you think you’re going to be lifting really heavy then it may be in your best interest to go with a leather weight belt with a buckle.

  • THERE ISN’T MUCH DESIGN APPEAL TO THE BELT:

This is more of a personal preference but this belt is a bit plain. If you like to wear something that is more eye catching or visually pleasing than this belt isn’t the best match.

NIKE’S STRUCTURED TRAINING BELT

Nike weight lifting beltNike’s training belt is a cool looking belt that doesn’t have the conventional design that most weight belts on the market have.

Customers enjoy the added support this belt offers from it’s unique design snug fit.

A lot of customers describe this as a good option for crossfit and not only just weight lifting

A great option if you’re looking for comfort over anything else.

check-pricePOSITIVES:

  • EXTREMELY BREATHABLE:

You can actually see from the picture above that this weight training belt is spaced in-between its supports and has open sections for airflow which is great for helping stay cool and keeping you from sweating around the weight belt.

  • HAS ACTUAL INSERTS FOR ADDED SUPPORT:

One of the major details that stands out about this belt compared to the rest is that it actually has plastic inserts for support.

So not only can you tighten this belt for support but you will also have the stiff plastic supports assisting your back to stay straight as well.

  • BELT IS VERSATILE AND CAN BE USED FOR OTHER ACTIVITIES:

A lot of customers have commented about this belt and say that they not only use it for weight lifting but also for anything where they want their back to be supported.

Many have stated they use it during their everyday life and it offers the support they need making it a great versatile option for not just weight lifting.

  • YOU CAN MAKE MICRO TIGHTENING ADJUSTMENTS:

Just like the 2 neoprene weight belts above this belt also tightens with a velcro closure.

The best thing about belts that tighten from velcro is the fact that you can adjust them to the micro level compared to leather belts where there are only adjustments holes every inch.

NEGATIVES:

  • IT’S ONLY “OK” AS A WEIGHT LIFTING BELT:

As the title for the belt describes it. They list it as a “training belt”. It does ok as a weight lifting belt however it definitely doesn’t offer the best support like the other belts do above because of the different design of the belt.

Customers have said they receive good support from the belt however if you’re going to lift heavy then you’re going to want a belt that supports you correctly.

  • IT’S A BIT BULKY:

The ends of this belt can fold inwards to save a little space but the fact that the back part of the belt is oddly shaped and stiff means you can’t roll up the entire thing and store it in your gym bag without taking up some extra space.

It’s not overwhelmingly bulky but it can become an issue if you have a smaller gym bag.

  • IT’S A LITTLE HIGHER PRICED:

This belt is actually priced kind of in the middle of all the weight belts being offered hoverer compared to most of the belts this one comes with a higher price tags than most mentioned.

For me honestly I don’t feel the quality justifies the price but that’s my own personal opinion.

  • WHEN YOU LIFT HEAVY THE VELCRO CAN COME UNDONE:

Just like the Neoprene weight belts above, if you put to much pressure on the weight belt then the velcro closure can actually come undone.

Just something to think about. If you think you’re going to be lifting really heavy then it may be in your best interest to go with a leather weight belt with a buckle.

THE VALEO 4 INCH PADDED LEATHER WEIGHT BELT
velo 4 inch weight belt

The Valeo “leather” weight belt is one of THE MOST purchased weight belts on the market.

However that doesn’t make it the best.

It has made this list simply because of the fact that it is bought more than almost any other belt on the market and isn’t on the list because of the quality.

I will explain more about this in the negative details below but without trying to be too biased I will make sure to list the positives about the belts as well.

So here ya go –

check-pricePOSITIVES:

  • IT’S THE CHEAPEST “LEATHER” WEIGHT BELT ON THE MARKET:

You might notice that I keep putting the words “leather” in quotations when referring to this belt. I will explain more about this in the negative section.

But for this belt if you’re wanting a “leather” belt but not wanting to pay the more expensive price tag that comes with leather belts then this is probably your ticket.

  • IT HAS A PADDED LUMBAR SUPPORT PAD BUILT IN:

A unique feature to this belt that only Valeo and Harbinger leather belts offer is the padded lumbar support in the middle of the inside of the belt.

It’s literally like a cushioned pad that is added on to the inside of the belt to help push against your lower back to support it and add extra comfort.

  • IT’S LIGHTER THAN MOST LEATHER BELTS:

This belt actually weighs a bit less than the standard leather weight belt.

Although it’s not much, but if an extra half pound is making you feel uncomfortable then this belt offers a lighter alternative to the situation.

NEGATIVES:

  • IT’S ACTUALLY MADE OF FAKE MATERIAL:

This is THE BIGGEST NEGATIVE to the belt and it’s the reason I keep referring  to this belt and the one below as to “leather” belts with the quotation marks.

This belt is listed as leather but the material it’s made out of seems to be several layers of hardened paper like material.

A big issue with customers is having this belt actually break. Leather shouldn’t ever “break”

  • IT ISN”T FLEXIBLE AND WON’T ROLL UP:

Another downside to it being fake leather (hardened thick paper stitched together) is that it isn’t flexible.

If you take the Dark Iron Fitness weight lifting belt for example, it’s very flexible and will roll up easily because it’s real leather. However the Valeo belt is very stiff so it will be tough to store easily.

  • IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO “BREAK IN”

Again I put the words “break in” in quotation marks because usually when you break in something it is actually genuine material.

Since this is made out of fake hardened paper like material I wouldn’t necessarily say you’re breaking it in. You more or less wearing it down to the point of where it will break.

THE HARBINGER 6 INCH PADDED LEATHER WEIGHT LIFTING BELT
harbinger 6 inch weight belt

I’m actually not going to do a break down on this belt like I did the other ones.

Why?

Because this belt is literally the EXACT same belt as the Valeo 4 inch belt above.

The only differences to this belt is that it has a 6 inch wide back and it has the name Harbinger on the back of it.

I only have it on this list because just like the Valeo belt above… It’s one of the most purchased belts on the market.

Seems like people don’t care too much about quality and just want the cheapest thing even if it breaks on them.

But Everything about this belt is exactly the same as the Valeo belt above so all you have to do is read the details from the break down I did above.

Or you can click on the button below to check out the price and more details about the belt.

CONCLUSION FOR WHAT IS THE BEST WEIGHT LIFTING BELT TO BUY:

So there you have it.

An in-depth break down on the most purchased weight lifting belts on the market today.

From the break down I’m sure you can guess which belt I think you should go with.

* Cough*  The Dark Iron Fitness Weight Belt * Cough *

But I wanted to make sure to give my honest and unbiased opinions on all the belts listed so that you can make your own educated buying decision.

However if you stick to one of the top 3 choices from the reviews above then you should be fine.

But me personally…. I already know what the best weight lifting belt to buy is

And that is me being biased :P
